2019 LEXUS RX – HOW TO MOVE A CROWD WITH CLASS
America’s best selling midsize premium crossover, the Lexus RX, has added an aggressive, angular look for 2019. If you have a large family and you want to move them in style, the 2019 Lexus RX with three row seating (added last year) just may be the transportation solution you are looking for. A refreshingly bold, eye-catching exterior design, exceptionally comfortable cabin, excellent fuel efficiency, optional AWD, room for seven and all of their gear, and a powerplant that gets the job done are all features that keep the Lexus RX at the top of the sales charts.
Like last year, the RX comes in 5 configurations: the RX is the base, gas powered crossover; the RX F Sport is the Lexus performance package; RX Hybrid is a gas-electric setup; RXL is the lengthened wheelbase, gas powered model that accommodates the three-row seating configuration; and the RXL Hybrid is the electric version of the seven passenger capacity. Now that we have cleared that up, it becomes obvious that the real differences in models are source of power, wheelbase length, and performance extras.
2019 Lexus RX
This is the base for all the other trims. Simply put, it is a stunning first impression. From the aggressive trademark spindle grille up front, to the carved angles and curves in the side panels, to the swooping roof line and spoiler, this crossover has a definite “prototype” feel to it. This Lexus is going to turn heads.
The interior of this five-passenger model is typical Lexus: attention to detail everywhere from the ambient lighting, 12.3″ infotainment touchscreen, handcrafted trim made from metal and real wood, contrasting color scheme, and well bolstered power seats all elevate comfort and style to Lexus standards. Intuitive technology rules in this space with a heads up display, a robust selection of driver assist packages, and optional Lexus Enform connectivity and concierge service.
The RX is a FWD drivetrain powered by a 3.5L V6 engine mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. An innovative Variable Valve Timing with intelligence system (VVT-iW) optimizes engine performance based on speed and delivers maximum torque at surprisingly low RPMs. The suspension is perfectly tuned providing a truly smooth ride.
Add 4.3″ to the wheelbase and a two seat third row and you have a Lexus RXL.
2019 Lexus RX Hybrid
The RX Hybrid is identical to the RX with the exception of two major elements: the RX Hybrid is an AWD drivetrain thanks to the two electric motors powering the axles front and rear. And of course, the RX Hybrid has a battery supplementing the V6 gas engine. The Hybrid feels a little punchier off the line thanks to the AWD setup and the fact it has an electric motor providing instant torque to the rear axle.
